Christmas for Everyone 2015
24.11.2015 - 17.12.2015
The Christmas for Everyone project was created to ensure a gourmet Christmas Eve Dinner for homeless people from the St. Vincent Charity House in Žilina, which took place on December 23, 2015. Funding for this project was obtained from the sale of Christmas gingerbreads at the Milan Hodža Bilingual Grammar School in Sučany from November 24 until December 17, 2015. Thanks to the great support of our students, we have been able to collect more than 470 € in the past few weeks which were used to cover the main course of the evening, fish and salad, as well as Christmas packages that were made from everyday items such as warm socks, fruits and others. Thanks to the people willing to help, the sauerkraut soup and cakes were also provided. Everyone involved in the project, either directly or indirectly,
The Story of the Project
1. Making Gingerbreads
All of the more than 700 gingerbreads were made in one kitchen, passed through two pairs of hands and pleased more than 600 people. It took us about 30 hours in the kitchen, 20kg of flour and of course a lot of effort, but the result was worth it.
The gingerbreads were sold from November 24 to December 17, 2015, every Tuesday and Thursday, over the big break in the premises of Milan Hodža Bilingual Grammar School in Sučany. There were several volunteers at school who contributed to the successful outcome of the project.
3. Christmas Eve Dinner
The gist of the whole project, the Christmas Eve Dinner, took place on December 23, 2015 in the premises of the St. Vincent Charity House. On this day, the Christmas atmosphere at the ceremonial dinner was enjoyed by about 50 clients of the House. There was also a program in which the scouts took part by bringing the light of Betlehem, the folklore ensemble Stavbár took care of the singing element and there was also a tombola.
